A week in Milan-Florence : Follow the Product Journey for Our Italian Bags and Shoes

This past week our founder and director Nick travelled to Milan and Florence scouting out the best new designs and fabrics for our shoes and bags. 

The trip began in Milan at the Micam trade show, where the best of the best shoes are presented to the world. Here he connected with our long term suppliers seeing their new collections and began discussing our ideas for our latest designs. The suppliers will tell us what is feasible and point us in the right direction. Their expertise is vital to us, they are true masters of their craft!

Following the trade show Nick travelled to Florence and visited a number of beautiful showrooms to go more in depth with each supplier. These showrooms are a creative heaven with all types of fabrics and wonderful colours! Seeing the fabrics in person are really important to us the feel and weight of the fabric must be right. At the showrooms he gathers samples of our favourite fabrics to bring back to our team.

This process is repeated for every supplier and we start to visualise our future collections. This is a very exciting time as our ideas start to come alive. 

Once Nick has visited every supplier we have a pretty good idea of what the collection will look like. He brings back all the fabrics, ideas and samples to our team where we start the process of officially designing.  

We are really proud of our Italian heritage and going to Milan and Florence is a highlight of the year. Getting to collaborate with our incredible suppliers, many of whom have been with us for years, is a great feeling.
